Lichen causes severe damage and is extremely difficult to remove with pressure cleaning or scrubbing alone.  The lichen will begin to regrow immediately after pressure cleaning from the residue left behind.

The Easy Way to Remove Lichen - with Bio-Shield®

Follow these 3 simple steps to ensure a complete kill and removal of the lichen and long lasting protection
 
  • Ensure the lichen is dry before application
  • Apply the Bio-Shield to saturate the lichen and stay wet for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Allow the lichen to dry for 1 to 2 hours

The key to successfully cleaning and removing lichen is to apply the Bio-Shield solution to saturate the lichen through to the base of the growths, and ensuring it does not dry out to quickly. Aim to allow drying over 10 to 15 minutes to ensure the Bio-Shield gives a good kill.  Application on a cloudy day or early morning will assist.  You will notice a slight colour change in most lichens once Bio-Shield is applied as it penetrates and kills the lichen.

The main reason other outdoor cleaners fail to kill lichen is the application has not saturated the growth and it is drying out to quickly.

Once the lichen has been killed it will breakdown and be washed away by rain.  If a faster clean up is required the lichen can be hosed and brushed away 3 to 4 weeks after the Bio-Shield application

A surface treated with Bio-Shield will stay clean for up to 3 years. 
Re-apply the Bio-Shield at the first sign of regrowth for a fast clean up and to keep the treated surface clean.

Lichen is an organism composed of algae or cyanobacteria (or both) living among the filaments of a fungus in a relationship that benefits each growth. Lichen prefers alternate wet and dry conditions and will grow on nearly any exterior surface.
